Hack Nights are bi-weekly meetings hosted by NYU Poly's Information Systems and Internet Security Lab. During Hack Nights, we will discuss topics ranging from exploiting security vulnerabilities to performing network reconnaissance. In addition to the presentations on these topics, live demonstrations will be given displaying the particular topic in action using freely available tools.
The target audience for Hack Nights is anyone who is curious about cyber security but has not been able to dive in because they do not know where to start.
Hack Nights will take place every week from 6:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays during NYU Poly's Fall and Spring semesters.
Please check back here for specifics regarding what will be presented and when.
What do I need to bring?
We suggest you bring a laptop in case you want help setting up the demonstration on your computer, however they are not mandatory.
What do you expect me to learn?
We expect you to be able to comprehend the topics presented well enough to be able to do your own research of them.
Where are you guys located?
If you are not a current NYU Student or Alumni who has access to Rogers Hall, please let us know before hand so we can arrange to sign you into the building.
Hack Night Workshops
Along with the bi-weekly Hack Nights, we will be hosting workshops which will target a more advanced audience and will be aligned with the topics that are presented during Hack Night. For example, a workshop might consist of developing a part of a tool that was used during Hack Night.
Please check back here for when specific workshops will be held.
What should I know for the workshops?
A decent understanding of Python and/or C is needed to get the most out of the workshops as you will be actually analyzing and making tools.
